The Application for the New York Piano Competition 2017 is now closed.
In 2016, the New York Piano Festival presented the inaugural Piano Competition. The competition consisted of two rounds: a preliminary round selecting performances through YouTube or Vimeo links, and a second live round at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music where competitors performed in front of acclaimed jury members (Min Kwon, David Dubal, Arthur Haas, Alexander Beridze, and Daria Rabotkina). Participants competed for $10,000 in cash prizes and for an opportunity to perform at the Carnegie Hall. The competition had two categories based on age (category I: 12-17, and category II: 18-25). Each division had six winners. On July 1st, winners from both divisions (12 performers) were presented at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall for a Gala Concert and award ceremony.
In 2017, the New York Piano Festival & Competition will be held from July 5th to July 7th. Eligibility requirements have been modified; age ranges for each category have been expanded (Category I: ages 12 – 18, Category II: ages 19 – 29). The deadline for submitting applications along with YouTube/Vimeo links is April 11, 2017. Fifteen (15) competitors from each category will be invited to compete at the live rounds in New York City. Live rounds will be held on July 5th and July 6th at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. Twelve (12) winners will be presented at the Gala Concert at the Carnegie Hall on July 7th, 2017.
